DEFENSIVE HANDGUN TECHNIQUES LEVEL II

DEFENSIVE HANDGUN TECHNIQUES – LEVEL II

Having a handgun is a great self-defense equalizer because it offers any person, regardless of age, sex, and strength, the ability to deliver deadly force. This advanced course will help you take your defensive handgun skills to the next level by applying modern defensive shooting techniques in a 360-degree training environment.

Responsible citizens and armed professionals who carry a handgun should take this class. The Defensive Handgun II class provides an opportunity to learn and practice modern defensive shooting techniques in a 360-degree training environment doing realistic exercises and drills that are simply not possible elsewhere.

Note: If you would ALSO like to learn Defensive Rifle Techniques sign up for the Defensive Firearms Techniques course rather than the Pistol II course. The Defensive Firearms course includes the first day of Handgun training and the second day of rifle training. If you don’t own a rifle and would like to rent one, simply write us a note on the registration page about rentals and we will get back to you.

If you are using your handgun for defensive purposes your training must be dedicated to learning how to fight with your weapon! This class will teach you:

  • Situational awareness, threat recognition and deadly force issues/outcomes.
  • Garment displacement for concealed carry, drawing from a holster, “high ready / low ready” techniques, grip, trigger management, and sight alignment.
  • Close quarter shooting and firearm retention techniques.
  • Low light shooting techniques including hands-on use and comparison of various types of flashlights.
  • Advanced marksmanship principles for real world situations (not competition).
  • Advanced reloading techniques and malfunction clearing.
  • Advanced skills for rapidly engaging multiple threats with accurate shot placement.
  • Target identification and threat discrimination over “speed shooting” to ensure public safety.
  • Accurate shot placement while moving for dynamic situations and getting off the “X”.
  • Advanced use of cover and concealment and the advanced use of space.
  • Advanced shooting positions and combat mobility to gain a tactical advantage or due to situational factors.

Note:

All Defensive Pistol II classes include stress drills where you will be moving through a predetermined course of fire and engaging targets. Although the participation in these drills is optional, it is highly recommended at this level since they are designed to test a student’s ability in a realistic environment under stress. Not only are they a great indication of your abilities, but they are also a lot of fun!

If students cannot safely keep up with the course tempo, the instructors may have students continue drills with gun clear and safe or sit out during the exercise for the safety of the group.
